The Zegraffe
BY JESS STILES
In a town split right down the dusty middle — Zebras to the left with their proper stripes, Giraffes to the right with their perfect spots — nobody dares to cross the line. Not even for half-price pancakes.
Then along comes Lonnie: No stripes. No spots. No welcome.
Armed with castoff treasures and a spark of imagination, Lonnie tries stripes. Then spots, but neither side wants them. And so, Lonnie opens up a fashion boutique smack-dab in the middle: On the left, a door for Zebras. On the right, a door for Giraffes.
When a fashion scandal exposes that both sides have been secretly craving a little of the other’s style, chaos erupts — and Lonnie’s shop is caught in the middle of the mess. But in that marvellous mess lies a brilliant discovery: The middle isn’t empty — it’s magnificent.
THE ZEGRAFFE is a playful, stylish picture book for ages 4–8 about identity, belonging, and the magic that happens when we mix, mingle, and celebrate the best of all worlds — stripes, spots, and everything in between.
